My Commitment to You

One thing we have learned from the past four years, the presidential election, and especially the months since Donald Trump was reelected, is the media is not capable of doing its one job: telling the truth. 

If you’re like me, you’re finding it harder to stay grounded in reality – much less engage with it – when you see unreality taking hold all around you. Here are the incontrovertible facts that we will never forget at No Lies Detected:

• Donald Trump attempted to overthrow our constitutional system and our democracy by becoming an unelected dictator on January 6, 2021. He is a convicted felon.

• Donald Trump remains a clear and present danger to our democracy, our country, and our world. 

• Republicans betray our country’s founding principles by enabling and venerating him, by parroting his rhetoric, and by enacting his illiberal agenda.

• Anyone who recognizes these facts, regardless of party or faction, is an ally in this generational struggle against Trumpism

My commitment to you over these next four years and as long as this space exists is as follows:

• I will always tell you the truth.

• I will always believe in the promise of our country, in our mission to form a more perfect union, where all people are created equal.

• I will always have hope in a better America. Nihilism robs democracies of oxygen.

• I will never construct a false, both-sides narrative where there isn’t one. I will not give oxygen to Donald Trump’s manufactured unrealties.

• I will never shrink from criticism or self-censor. The truth must be fearless.

• I will never comply before this Administration. 

These next four years will be trying in ways that we cannot today comprehend. But we can, must, and will overcome. 

I hope you will join me in this fight. It’s the one worth having.
